Rombola Melon Farm

Updated: Feb 12

We installed cooling systems in different rooms:

  • 3 rooms at 4 degrees Celsius, each 121 square meters, totaling 363 square meters.

  • 1 packing/sorting area at 8 degrees Celsius, totaling 489 square meters.

  • 1 Rock melon holding room at 4 degrees Celsius, totaling 429 square meters.

  • 1 room for holding products at 14 degrees Celsius, totaling 2228 square meters.

We also provided and set up 2 Bitzer screw Racks: one with a 382.5kw 2-compressor screw Rack and another with a 570.6kw 4-compressor screw Rack. These operate on R134a refrigerant. The setup includes 2 Bitzer screw compressor racks with air-cooled V-Block condensers connected to 21 Guntner DX evaporators.

We also installed refrigeration switchboards and an Emerson E2 control system for optimal capacity and electrical efficiency.

The rooms are divided into 6 pull-down rooms at 4 degrees Celsius, 3 packing/sorting rooms at 8 degrees Celsius, 4 Rock melon holding rooms at 4 degrees Celsius, and 8 product holding rooms at 14 degrees Celsius.

The benefits of this system include:

  • The large condenser capacity can handle the load of all rooms even during peak temperatures.

  • The racks are sized for peak load in all rooms but can be staged down for efficiency.

  • Energy-efficient inverter-controlled fans and electronic controllers help achieve optimal capacity and electrical efficiency.
